Oak Cottages

As we pass along Street Lane from the pubs we come to Oak Cottages, so named from their nearness to the Inn. They are of 19th century building and originally four in number, but 10 or 12 years ago two of them were taken down, owing to their being affected by the drop in the stone pit, which caused cracks and general insecurity. These two were re-erected by the late Mr. Francis further west. They are generally called New Oak Cottages.
