The Well

It may be of interest to record that the well at the bottom of the village was dug on the waste of the manor of Ditchling and the fact is recorded in the Manor book for 1875, the sum of 1d. a year being paid as a quit rent. It has long been useless as a means of water supply, but it is a reminder of the difficulties that our grandfathers had to tackle in providing for the prime necessity of life.
